April and May are the months to bath in the scent of Orange blossom
As I recently moved into the Kasbah...Time for a stroll in the hoods. The Kasbah in Marrakech is a walk too far out for many and they are right! It takes about half an hour to walk from place Jemaa el Fna to Café Clock, one of the known spots. And it is surprisingly different when you look up the back streets!!!
THE BEST BOHEMIAN NIGHTS IN MARRAKECH
once your canvas turns to shades of pink, flying into Marrakesh Menara airport, it seems to be the natural way to turn boho. However, boho comes in different shapes and settings and as a guesthouse, you would not only go for design but look beyond making the experience for your guests one to linger on for a long time.

NEW COLOUR PROOF LUXURY STAY in Essaouira
(p.s. we got you a #superdeal! Read all about it at the end )
When designer and businesswoman, Helen Howat introduced the vivid colours of Australian brand
to Dubai, I wonder if she was already dreaming of making the circle round...

This was the first thing that came to mind when I visited her beautiful
,
, that she designed and restored from scratch in the medina of Essaouira,
Kas Australia offers colourful quality luxury bedding, inspired by ethnic patterns and dreams of for away destinations.
'Bedding in Moroccan patterns! How cool is this!'
Australian bedding with patterns that found their way back to Morocco! The circle w a s round!
Would she have been playing with the idea of one day, having this perfect hotel, and 'concept-store' -like, hipster proof hotspot, somewhere in Morocco?
I did not had the chance yet to ask her, but I'm thrilled she discovered this 17th-century old merchant house and turned it into a hotel with the help of
.
She could'nt have wished for a better way to display the beautiful bedding, her creative approach and a selection of locally designed ethnic goods.
For sure we will also find some items from her other company,
. Although most items are linked to Dubai, there is a same vibrancy and fun factor all through the designs and I firmly believe that Essaouira is ready to not only focus on localy produced goods.
I think there is room here in and around the Médina, not only for surfers and backpackers, but also for trendy hipsters and city hoppers who want to have a fun shopping experience.
After all, my vision on Essaouira in my e-book 2015 was as follows...
...It's a most wonderful, authentic place in Morocco, and a little piece of heaven, where billionaires and surfers mingle behind a glass of Moroccan tea or a nos-nos, the wind in their hair, strolling around on what seems to be the local uniform, 'slippers'...
(you can still download my e-book
, but working on an update!)
This is exactly the vibe I catch when coming to the rooftop of Salut Maroc!
A place that vibrates style and class but has a down to earth approach of the young staff.
'Just come as you are' seems to be the keyword.
And now...it's time to let you soak up the colours of the world!
The hotel features also a restaurant on the rooftop, not only for guest. Go and enjoy one of the best sea views in town!
Now, if you think this is it with new hotspots this summer? You're wrong! This seaside town is filled with whispers and we might just catch one!
Stay tuned and have a lovely summer, folks. We maybe meet somewhere in an alley xxx!
Update: We did meet lovely and inspiring Helen the other day. Among a lovely shat, a fascinating insight in the stunning details ( o.m.g., these rooms have surprises and stories in every dot of colour that is used!)
WE GOT OUR READERS A SUPER DEAL!
and she offers you a 10% reduction an a room!

MARRAKECH, my 5+ favourite bedrooms on the market
I do not have a clue how many riads you will find in the Marrakech Medina, but there are always some waiting to change ownership.
Many creative talents have been putting an example, including Bill Willis, Franca Sozzani, The Hermes family, YSL, and recently the persistent rumour that the Bvlgari empire is focussing on Marrakech.
It is a challenge and a passion to transform an old riad into a real paradise.
To give you an impression on the splendor and beauty of these old houses, you can get a glimpse of it at

I surfed the sites for you and let you have a look into my favourite bedrooms that are currently on the market.
One never knows, you might want to wake up soon in your own riad ...
What is a riad?
A
is an authentic house in the old town, the Medina, built around a central courtyard.
On the first floor you will find a 4-sided passageway open to the inner garden and in open air, this is the case for the Marrakech architecture. This passageway causes the rooms to recline and thus get less direct sunlight on those sizzling summer days.
The central atrium is usually rich in plants and water.
Water is one of the pillars in Islamic architecture and also one of the vital elements in the very dry and sandy areas.
