Visiting Morocco with an order in mind?
This is our third post, where we talk about applying the tools we covered in part 1.

Today we’re finally there! ORDERING!
REMEMBER:
It’s going to be a day with a lot of haggling, closing deals or maybe not just yet.
You might see similar items in different shops.
You will hear all kind of prices.
The first time is always the hardest.
Don’t be too hard on yourself when you find out that you maybe overpaid. As long as you are pleased with the quality and you did your maths including shipping, import taxes if they apply, packaging …
Because, next time there will be room for adjustment!
ORDERING:
First things first.
Make sure you have sufficient copies of our ORDER PLAN on you.
Check if you have all other items as well:
your phone
measuring tape
portable (small) whiteboard and markers. A sponge and a small bottle of water for cleaning. Once we started using this, it meant a HUGE difference in keeping up with the details. It was one of our clients, Roger’s Gardens, who gave us this bright idea!

After arriving at your first stop, ask the shop owner to hold his business card so you can take a photo on him with the card.
Attach the business card to your first order sheet!
Take your phone and create a first folder. Including date and shop name in the subject.
Add the photo you just took.
After this the hectic starts ;)
For every item that is potentially interesting for you take:
sizes (in both meter and Inches if you use this in your country)
info you need
write it down on the whiteboard.
Put it in front of the object and take a photo.
Add that photo with the details to the folder.
Take a second photo without the whiteboard that you might use in your catalogue, social media….
If you want to put out an order right away, (after agreeing on the price of course) Make sure that you
ONLY keep these items in your folder that you order.
Fill out your order sheet respecting the following of the photos in the folder.
This way you can easily add the photos later to your digital copy of the order in your hotel or even when you return home.
Don’t start doing this on an iPad in the shop because this will take too much time and distract the owner by going to other clients…and you end up waiting till he returns.
REPEATING:
Repeat this routine for every shop you visit.
In case you want to think an order over, do the same once you know what you want. Remove items out of the folder.
Always keep the original in your gallery.
It will help you build a list with prices and will make you more confident the next time.
