Riad Tzarra, a riad that I love for its pureness. cedarwood in its natural colour. I love it!
The lifestyle experience and luxury travel event PURE is in town and I’m having a week filled with business meetings. Professionals that really know what it is to create experiences instead of tours. People that spend time and energy on bespoke packages.
So I felt very honoured when one of them asked me what riads I liked…
So here they are, some of my favourite addresses within the medina walls…

How did I select them?
Over the passed years, some beautiful homes kept on crossing my path. Of course, these were the ones that came first to mind! Now when I think about it, I might add at least 10 more…
But if you never heard of a riad before, or, it’s your first time in Marrakech, these are just some of the places that will guarantee your stay is styled to perfection.

1. DAR KAWA by V. Barkowski
A stylish Black and White alternative that keeps on evolving. Using homewares and bed linens from designer Valerie’s own collection.
Tenderness in soft tones of grey and neutrals. A riad that has unexpected discoveries where-ever you turn your head.
3. RIAD ADORE
Part of Pure Riads. Riad Adore is at such an excellent location! It will be our home during our Marrakech Trendspaning event and it is perfect to explore the shopping districts in and outside of the Medina.
4. RIAD PALACIO DE LAS ESPECIAS
A place that I adore because of the mix of old colonial charm and authentic beldi Moroccan style. We have spent many romantic evenings on this rooftop and we’ll probably add some to this coming April with our design and desert moon retreat.
5. RIAD FARNATCHI
Old English charm into the smallest detail! With a host called James, you can’t go wrong and this place really feels ‘at home’. From the sumptuous suites to the selected English shower and beauty products and the beautiful extended roof terrace. Everywhere you find these little corners to have a healthy afternoon siesta or a drink.
6. RIAD 72
A riad that is working its way to the top lately, and not in the least because of the fine dining at La Table du Riad. I’m in love with the tiling and the neutral tones, and dining is on my to-do list :).
A sunny, happy vibe waltzes through the courtyard and the airy rooms. While most riads are quite dark, especially at the ground floor, this riad is light and bright with sunlight playing around in all the beautifully decorated rooms.
8. 19 LAKSOUR
Top location and what a place! The African charm mixed with Out of Africa glam using art déco and Colonial style elements to decorate the rooms. A stunning courtyard pool completes the picture!
9. L’HOTEL MARRAKECH by Jasper Conran
Class in every detail!
I’ve always been a fan of Jasper Conran’s simple, sophisticated sharp-cut lines when it comes to fashion. Now I can add a hotel in my hometown to this. There simply isn’t anything that I dislike. colour combinations, fabrics and form. All perfectly balanced to create a perfect get-away address.
10. RIAD O MARRAKECH
Why I add riad O? I’m totally impressed by the flair, passion and persistence of a young 19-year-old, who left everything behind in his homeland to fully take over the management of a riad in Marrakech. He is doing this with such a flair that he recently won an award in Belgium. I’m convinced that if he continues like this, more award-winning opportunities will be waiting.
