Today I want to tackle an issue that comes up with most of my US sourcing clients!
Rugs and sizes!
Vintage Moroccan rugs were custom made to fit the needs of the Berber people. They were either used as warm covers to protect them, or they served to cover the floors.
If we look at this size wise, we understand why we NEVER find a vintage rug that is more than 2,10 m wide. For the obvious reason that this was about the max size of the rooms in the houses. Even in the riads in Marrakech and Fez, most common sizes are between 2,10 to 2,20 m wide for the rooms.
Houses in the states are very spacious and often shopping tours end with doubt and ultimately leaving the carpet of their dreams behind because it might not work.
I don't agree, and
with today's collection of photos, I want to show how rugs can turn into runners and add that eye-catching touch of luxury with a twist to a room, without being perfect. in fact, without even doing an effort to be perfect. That is the understated chic we all want to create, don't we?
