M.AVENUE & FOUR SEASONS PRIVATE RESIDENCES - a peek behind the door.

M Avenue, Four Seasons, Narrakech
M Avenue, scheduled to open in late 2019, is a new 500-metre-long “Garden Avenue” located in the heart of Marrakech. This unique development, which is adjacent to the Four Seasons Resort Marrakech, will create a new and exciting city centre that will revitalise the city and will offer an innovative mix of properties including Four Seasons Private Residences, the Pestana CR7 hotel (the Cristiano Ronaldo hotel as we call it) shops, restaurants, cafes, offices, art galleries and exhibition venues. The vision is to become an international lifestyle destination for design, fashion, food, recreation and culture.....
And guess what! The leading Marrakech' PR Agency, Red City PR, invited me to have a peek behind the door.

RIAD LES ORANGERS D'ALILIA - a peek behind the door

riad, kasbah, medina, marrakech
April and May are the months to bath in the scent of Orange blossom
As I recently moved into the Kasbah...Time for a stroll in the hoods. The Kasbah in Marrakech is a walk too far out for many and they are right! It takes about half an hour to walk from place Jemaa el Fna to Café Clock, one of the known spots.
However, if you like to discover a small village within the city, a place that reminds me of a Southern Mediterranean place on a siesta moment on a hot summer's day, then take that walk and wander off from the main street!
By 6 p.m. that main street turns into one big restaurant scene with local food stalls and fast food tourist places, combined with souvenir shops and hundreds of people, scooters, horse carriages and ....
Please try the local restaurants as they happen to have the best local food I've ever tasted in Morocco!
There's the guy from Fez, (you recognise him with his shiny copper pots) who has at least 5 different dishes. There's the small hole in the wall of Khadija who can't read or write but she and her mother serve the best fried sardines and lentil stew I ever had!

NEW HOTELS IN MARRAKECH - try the Beldi chic style!

If Scandinavian lifestyle and Moroccan ever are related, then the typical Beldi style at this new hotel is what comes closest.  Defining 'beldi'?  Beldi is a word that is used for just about everything in Morocco that is somewhat  authentic.  The typical Berber architecture is simple and literally 'down to earth'. Built with what one can find on site. Around Essaouira you should think stones and from Marrakech towards the Sahara it is mainly red mud. The floors are in polished cement enriched with minerals in order to achieve a particular colour. The walls are covered with lime and wet rooms with tadelakt. All this combined with natural wood tones and rattan. All these  ingredients, colourwise, happen to be the basic for Nordic living.

New hotel in Marrakech Medina

To find an authentic rural concept in the Medina of Marrakech is rare, if not unique! The El Idrissi family  tried a different approach.  After opening and running a traditional riad, they transformed their own little farm in the medina into a five room hotel with restaurant. All very cozy. An eclectic fusion of art, flea market finds and authentic pieces. Combine this with an onsite traditional oven,  their house donkey, a handful of chickens and cats and the picture is complete. Farm tourism Maroc style 😆. All reservations and inquieries here

De typische Berber architectuur is eenvoudig en letterlijk 'down to earth'.

Hoevetoerisme Maroc style 😆.  Boeken doe je hier!

A RIAD IN MARRAKECH - WHAT'S NOT TO ADORE?

A RIAD TO IMPRESS YOUR LOVED ONE (AND EVERYONE ELSE)

Aladin's lamp - Magical Babouches and more mysterious beauty!

There are 2 kinds of travelers. The ones that want to go on holiday to relax and the ones that want to go on holiday to discover and experience.
Let me tell you, booking a riad in Morocco gives you both.
Booking a riad with a pool, an outside fireplace and beyond magic suites can give you a lot more!

It's a fairytale and we love stories with an open end, don't we?
it goes like this....

Many years ago there was an Englishman who got under the spell of the Mystical Marrakech.
There was just no escaping, he had to return time after time again and for every time, the spell became more obvious as he started to look around in old, abandoned houses...
little did he know the magic of Moroccan Riads.

He could not resist to buy one.
but that was not enough! He bought two, three, four...

They started to take control of his life. At night he was dreaming how they would look like.
His days were filled with trying to organize the construction works and explaining the magical dreams he had at night to the Moroccan builders.

It was hard at times, very hard, but that's the way magic is created...
The builders started to see the transformation.
The Englishman started to see his dreams come alive,
and the houses turned into these magical palazzo's
waiting for you to come and visit.

The spell, however, you can not escape....
you will want to buy a house in Morocco too
just like the Englishman...
who is buying, and dreaming, and building for a 1001 nights to come...
