The secret Gardens of the Marrakesh Medina.

Running around for a day in the Medina of Marrakesh makes you not only feel dirty and covered with a layer excisiting of sand, dust it also migh leave you with the impression that besides a million shades of ochre and pink there is not much more to 'living' in the Medina.
How wrong this thought is and how surprising when entering a door of a riad...
On my search for the ultimate green in the Medina of Marrakesh, I kind of stumbled upon Riad Madani.
Seeing the garden of Riad Madani it is a delight. Not easy to capture this in picture but Stéphane Morgant has mastered the green inner space of over 1000 m2. Not only is the garden one of a kind. The whole riad breaths this kind of peace and timeless glamour with art around every corner to distract the eye and makes you want to wander around....

One day I returned from one of my travels and to my complete shock, one of the neighbours had painted his windows lavender.
Don't get me wrong, I love lavender...in the south of France, but here? In Morocco, with all this blue ...
My husband was a big fan, he LOOOVED it...So we disagreed like on most issues...

Some weeks have passed and I think lavender isn't so bad after all :)

Sometimes a places carries an inner stillness

Jardin Majorelle Marrakech
It is not often you expect a place to have this magic silence when people are queuing to get in. But that is just what happens when you enter Jardin Majorelle. You automatically temper your voice.
Is it the saturation of the deep blue and vibrant yellow that do the trick?
I don't know, but I do know that whenever you go there, where ever you look the place open in yet another angle and more astonishing perspective. Next time i will take a book with me and do what I love most, sit down in the corner under the fig tree and pretend to read while observing the magic spell this place puts on its visitors...

The quite Derbs of a lively city.

When you have had it with the Medina, there is no more comforting feeling then closing the door of you own riad. At least that is if you have an inner garden that provides you some essential settings. Shadow, serenity, a little running water and the right amount of bird tweet…
That's my favorite haven of tranquility before spending the night on the rooftop.
How about you?

Marrakech, Marrakesh

people hate you, people love you.
There is no easy way to describe you,
there is no way but to live you

This is about the feeling I have about Marrakesh, it's warm (too)
There's pollution everywhere,
scooters crossing the Medina at the speed of light,
busses, horses, donkeys scooters and people hurry around in a magic mix,

But what a power this city vibrates.
No better way for me to discover this then the roof terrace of Le Cafe Arabe.

Don't go there for the food because I think there are far better alternatives.
Don't go there for the service because I think it is the over polished kind of.
But I return again and again at all hours of day or night for the magic vibe...
The Red city vibe.
