WEEK 35

What happened...
As usual, a lot.

I visited the auction in DAR SOUIRI, did not want to spend the money then but still thinking I should buy one of these great Artworks...
I got fooled by the owners of the house we want to buy in Marrakesh. they suddenly decided to almost double the price pff...
I made some great shots in the city (Essaouira)

And Yes, the brand is building....Coco-Morocco has almost 2000 likes on Facebook and I feel a gift coming up :)

LOVING CRACKS AND WRINKLES

I am passionate about cracks in walls and faded paint. They remind me of aged faces where you can read a story...

HARBOR IMPRESSIONS ESSAOUIRA

Morocco never sleeps.  Sometimes I think they sleep in shifts.

WHAT IS A RIAD

Often when we go on holiday in Morocco, we tend to stay in a riad. Riads once were the houses for families where generations lived together en women and men slept separately in the typical long and narrow rooms all centered around the courtyard.

SHARPCUT ARCHITECTURE IN THE OURIKA VALLEY

Traditional Moroccan techniques, design and materials. Brought together in a totaly contemporary mix. We are blessed here being able to still have so much craftsmanship around to produce this kind of beauty in a breath taking scenery.

Studioko brought it all together in house E, situated in the Ourika valley, near Marrakesh ! This designer and architecture studio is in for some more amazing architecture and interior design and they were in charge of the styling on one of my favorite "hang-out / sit and observe / eat splendid food / drink good wine and enjoy" spot. Café de la Poste in Marrakesh.

If you are a lover of modern architecture! visit their site and ENJOY.

MOROCCAN BLEUS

Had Dra
I'm angry. I'm upset,
And the only reason is because I don't know how to play the game!  But I'm eager to learn!!
The reason of my frustration...
Yesterday while the 'contrat de vente' should be signed for our little house in the Medina, the owners (read sellers) suddenly had, what they thought, great idea...

EVENING IN ESSAOUIRA HARBOUR

Every moment of the day is one to snap. Like this one while the fisher boats were coming back ....

I CAUGHT THE GREEN VIBE

I don't know where I caught it, but I'm infected with the green microbe.
I'm not talking the healthy bio thing but the COLOR green is becoming more and more appealing to me nowadays.
I'm not saying: "OUT with the Mustard Yellow" yet, but ...it cooooming close.
And when I 'm talking green I mean GREEN. Like PANTONE 2013 color EMERALD GREEN.

LOST

Even after 2 years I get lost now and then...

These are the moments when your eyes do most of the work. looking and identifying...
fortunately, the Medina is of the size that sooner or later you recognize something that gets you on the right track again.

OUR NEW HOUSE IN MARRAKESH

Some of you already know it. We bought a Medina house in Marrakesh!

It's a house with a challenge as it has neighbours on 3 sides and the only way of getting in daylight is by the lightwell.
But we fell head over heals for a lot of reasons so solving the light issue is the challenge we are willing to take to make it this dream home we want for  a while already.
Dark rooms need light, and what better way to accomplish this then using light colors.

AFTER MIDNIGHT

We were in Marrakesh this weekend.

Call it house hunting..call it anything.
Fact is that after a day with almost , no, WITH tropical temperatures, you need another couple of hours on the rooftop to let your body cool down.

CARAVANE CAFE ESSAOUIRA ***

I'm a visual person.

Always looking around noticing small things, letting my imagination take me away creating new inspiring ideas.
While other people know to find a certain place after having been there once, I'm still getting lost in the medina after living in Essaouira for nearly two year.
I guess I'm lost in the details; enjoying a new recipe displayed at one of the restaurants, seeing a cat sleeping beside the fresh baked bread, new colors and prints, a little art project, inspiring people...My way of focussing often leaves me totally lost but enables me to discover something new every day.

There is though an exception called Caravane Cafe!
I swear, I 'll find it with my eyes closed. I don't know why I love to go there most.
If for the food, for the vibe or for the beautiful art by artist Didier Spindler.
I think I'll just start sharing the architecture and the art with you so you can decide to go and try the food yourself.

THE VENDOR

Passing, on his way to his daily spot.

Selling candy at the entrence of the medina.

GET AN EXTRA DIMENSION

This example on Moroccan inspired decoration would work extremely well in a one room studio. Use the bed as a room devider to create a living zone on each side. Don't you love the simple black and white setting and the intimicy of this little corner?

WANDERING

Sometimes the eye catches the moment.

The moment of simplicity. Of simple joy and everyday life that we left behind.
Somehow these moments make me wonder what we connect to ...

home, family, hapiness, joy?
or just a holiday feeling?

CREATIVE INTERIOR

This is one of my favorite rooms when it comes to creativity!
I found it on Pinterest but could not find who, where and picture rights. So pleace, if you know tell me!

Look at the creativity in it! A pallet no longer is a pallet when you turn it into a coffee table like this one!

MARRAKESH S'ÉVEILLE

Sometimes life can be simple. Like Jemma El Fna in Marrakesh on early mornings before the tourist rush.
The almost fresh air with the fast rising sun for yet another hot hot July day.
What more then sitting and relaxing waiting for the day to pass watching the horsemen and their chariots...

MEDINA MOMENT

It was a hot sunny day in Essaouira with, as it seemed, everyone at the beach.
